Lighting Precision Across 1,400 Metres: A Complete LED Refit in Just 4 Weeks

Last year, we completed a major linear lighting upgrade on board a well-known Northern European-built superyacht. The brief: replace more than 1,400 metres of linear LED throughout the vessel, both in situ and across over 580 custom decorative features.

What started as a series of targeted repairs soon revealed the need for a more comprehensive solution. The yacht had been struggling with widespread lighting failures and inconsistent quality. After initial trials using our own specification and installation methods, the results spoke for themselves: zero failures over extended use, a stronger, more resilient system, and a client ready to commit to a full-scale upgrade.

A Logistical and Technical Challenge, Delivered with Precision

With just four weeks available, the project was split across multiple locations:

  • On board in Spain, our engineers worked on 10-day rotations to remove, replace, and test 300 metres of linear LED.

  • Back in the UK, over 580 decorative “fins”, each incorporating LED, were unpacked, upgraded by our in-house manufacturing team, and returned in time for reinstallation before the owner’s arrival.

Seamless coordination across engineering, logistics, and supply chain was key. As equipment moved across Europe, our teams kept pace, ensuring that every component, from light source to final fit, met our rigorous standards.

The Result: A Reliable Finish and Continued Partnership

The upgrade has brought lasting improvements, eliminating the previous system’s recurring issues and significantly enhancing the vessel’s onboard lighting experience. The success of this phase has led to a second commission: we’ll return later this year to complete the remaining onboard areas.

This project exemplifies the strength of integrated delivery, combining expertise, adaptability, and a shared commitment to excellence.
