Earth Day – Our Commitment to Doing the Right Thing

Earth Day is a global moment to reflect on the impact we have on the planet and the steps we can take to protect it. Since 1970, Earth Day has united people, organisations, and communities around the world in support of environmental awareness and action.

To mark the day, Ideaworks is proud to release our Doing the Right Thing report, which reflects the environmental and social progress we made across our people, supply chain, and operations last year.

At Ideaworks, “Doing the Right Thing” isn’t just a tagline; it’s how we work. Every decision we make aims to create a smarter, more sustainable business that has a positive impact on the people and places around us.

In 2024, we:

  • Energy: All UK offices now run on renewable energy.

  • Waste: We cut our waste-to-turnover ratio again, and over half of our Technical Centre waste is now recycled.

  • Transport: Eight team members are now driving EVs, supported by our HQ charging points.

  • Supply chain: 57% of our lighting suppliers now provide environmentally certified products, and 50% of our bubble bags are paper-based.

  • Plastic reduction: 612 plastic cleaning bottles avoided thanks to our refill scheme.

  • Community: 21 local pupils mentored or placed through the Ideaworks Academy, and we helped fund and install a media room for We Are Beams.

  • Staff wellbeing: From menopause and mental health awareness training to first aid and flu jabs, we're investing in the health of our team.

From carbon to community, we’re focused on progress, not perfection, but continual improvement and making a difference where it matters. Through our membership of We are PRIME, we also champion shared learning and help a wider community of like-minded businesses make a difference.
